What is sidingto Place Announcement
This English word means - outer lining. Purely structurally, these are panels up to 3 m long, which are mounted on a frame assembled and attached to the wall of the building. In the design of the panels there are mounting shelves through which the facing material is attached to the lath by means of self-screws, and connecting elements: on one side a slot, on the other a spike. That is, the lamellae are connected to each other by a lock, which is not visible from the outside.
Since this type of lining is a framework, accordingly, a heat insulating layer can be laid under the lining. This is one of the advantages of siding, or rather the method of installing it, which is called a ventilated facade.
That is, it turns out that this finishing material performs several functions at once:
• decorates the walls of the house;
• protects against the external impact of natural precipitation, increasing the life of buildings;
• is a structure for insulation.
So, having dealt with the concept of "siding," we move on to its varieties.
Types of siding, their pros and cons
Appearing in the 19th century, this wall cladding material was made of wood. Today, manufacturers offer other modifications that surpass the wooden version in terms of technical and operational characteristics. Although wooden siding is still in demand.
Let's look at each variety separately.
Vinyl siding
In fact, these are PVC panels of different colors with imitation for the structure of wood. The first of these species of siding appeared in Canada in the middle of the last century. But since then it has changed for the better, so this material has a lot of advantages:
• copes perfectly with the sun's rays;
• does not react in any way to precipitation;
• it is a sufficiently strong material;
• service life depending on the manufacturer - up to 50 years;
• small mass of products;
• Easy installation;
• fairly wide variety of color scheme;
• low price.
Manufacturers today offer five main forms of the product: single, double, triple, ship beam and block house. Although in recent years, new forms of siding began to appear more often, for example vertical siding or imitation of glued timber.
Acrylic
If we talk about high-quality siding for cladding a house made of polymer materials, then acrylic is one. It was invented after vinyl, when improved technology appeared. Hence the quality of this material is better, but the price is higher.
If you compare both types, then:
• acrylic lasts longer taking into account the strength and maintenance of the temperature difference from -50S to + 80C;
• resistance to the negative effects of the sun is 10 times higher than that of vinyl;
• does not require constant care.
• what is the best siding to skin the house
Metal
If we talk about strength, then metal is stronger than plastic. This is a well-known fact. Today, there are two types of metal siding on the market. Both are made of galvanized steel sheet. But one has an outer coating - paint, the other has a polymer. Therefore, the first is cheaper than the second.
We must pay tribute to the polymerized product, because its service life is almost twice as long. For example, painted siding on the wall of a house will last 15-25 years, with a polymer coating for at least 30 years.
But both options are prone to corrosion at the points of shear and attachment. Therefore, it is very important to follow the installation rules accurately.
Fibrocellular
The choice of siding is increasingly carried out according to the degree of complexity of its installation. So the fibrocement version cannot be called easy. First, this material actually has a large mass because it consists of:
• cement;
• quartz sand;
• mineral fillers;
• cellulose fibers performing the functions of a reinforcement cage:
• plasticizers.
Secondly, a strong frame of metal profiles will have to be built for it, where a rarer step of installing the lath elements is used. And this increases the cost of the structure.
Thirdly, with a sufficiently high strength, fiber cement siding is a brittle material. It does not tolerate shock loads. So you need to work with it carefully. .
