Types of softwood to Place Announcement



Types of softwood Conifers make up 90% of the total number of trees. They grow in most of Russia - in the middle strip, in Siberia and in the southern part. However, each region is characterized by its own representatives. For example, cedar pine grows mainly in Western Siberia, Primorye, Khabarovsk Territory, larch prevails in the middle strip and in Siberia, fir - in the northeast at an altitude of 1200-2000 m above sea level.

Pine

Pine grows in most of Russia and covers about ⅙ area. Pine is a very popular breed due to its high quality wood properties, high prevalence and budget price. Shades of wood - from yellow to pinkish. Pine wood is strong, good for processing, absorbs antiseptic and dyes, moderately light in weight. These characteristics make it possible to make lumber from pine for any construction and finishing work.

Fir-tree

Spruce grows in the European part of Russia, in the Urals and in Siberia, where wet and loamy soils. The strength, density and bio-resistance of spruce are practically the same as pine, but due to the presence of a large number of knots, it is more difficult to process. However, the wood had high flexibility and elasticity. Spruce products are easy to polish and planing. The tree is pale yellow in color. The fibers are evenly distributed throughout the mass, so these wood properties produce good musical instruments from the spruce.

Cedar

In our country, cedar, or cedar pine, is common in the northeast of the Russian Plain and in Siberia. The properties of wood make cedar one of the most valuable tree species. Cedar pine wood has a low shrinkage coefficient, high density and decorativeness. It varies in color from gently cream to vanilla. It is most often used to make a carriage, board, less often a bar. Although they cost more, cedar timber houses are a good investment.

Larch

Larch occupies ⅖ of the total area of Russian forests. It grows starting from the eastern part and spreads further north and east. The colour varies from a light, slightly brownish to reddish hue. A pronounced texture is visible on the wood. According to such a property of wood as strength, larch is close to oak, it has few knots, it is resistant to damage by microorganisms, and in water it becomes even stronger. Wood is not very good at machining due to its high resineness.

Fir

Siberian fir grows in the northeast of the European part of the Russian Federation. Unlike other conifers, fir wood has few resin passages, so it is more prone to damage by fungi and microorganisms. It is white, yellow or slightly reddish in color. It looks like a spruce. It is used in structures that are not demanding on loads, mainly in finishing work. Fir houses are warmer.

Juniper

Juniper grows in Russia, ranging from the middle part of European territory to Eastern Siberia, as well as in the north. The swampy has a dark yellow with a green tint, the core has an olive blue. In terms of wood properties, juniper is suitable for construction, but it grows slowly and is very whimsical to environmental conditions. Yew

Tiss berry grows in the Caucasus and Crimea, and tiss Far Eastern - in the Primorsky Territory and Sakhalin. The yew wood is hard and heavy, it does not rot. It is used for the manufacture of furniture, small souvenirs, decoration of products.
