Hardwood lumber/lumber

Lumber: softwood and hardwood, wood codes and standards

As such, coniferous hardwood lumber is seen through the eyes of citizens inexperienced in construction affairs as a simple piece of wood, applicable without restrictions everywhere. However, in reality, it is extremely difficult to choose lumber for specific construction purposes. There are a lot of product options, which clearly complicates the exact choice even for specialists, not to mention the purchase of wood by the layman. Low grade board, structural wood, class "C" or "D" plywood...? The list of existing options often confuses the buyer. Let's try to understand the existing intricacies of lumber in order to facilitate the choice of a potential buyer.

Hardwood

Hardwood-based lumber is generally the products of broadleaf trees that traditionally dump foliage during the cold season. The most common wood of this class:

• oak,
• maple,
• nut,
• caria,
• mahogany.

A significant part of deciduous species is marked by an increased degree of hardness of the tree structure compared to conifers.

Full outgrowth of hardwood trees takes longer than conifers. Therefore, hardwood lumber is estimated by the market more expensive than a softwood variety. In addition, hardwood lumber is commonly used in professional woodworking:

• furniture production,
• carpentry,
• flooring, etc.

These are the main differences between coniferous and deciduous lumber, but there are also finer little things in relation to each type of wood.. All these subtleties also matter in construction. Consider the detailed balance sheets - raw materials for the manufacture of pressed materials and the wood chemical industry;

- firewood - wastes of timber, suitable only for combustion as fuel.
