Types of wood plates. Chipboard, fibreboard, MDF and OSB. In what difference?
Types of wood plates, such as WSP (wood-shaving plate), fibreboard (fiber board), MDF (multilayered fiber board) and OSB (oriyentirovanno-struzhechny plate), are the popular materials which are widely applied in construction and production of furniture. They have the characteristics and advantages distinguishing them from each other.
We will consider each type of plates separately:
WSP (wood-shaving plate) is the most widespread and available type of a wood plate. It consists of the wood shavings connected by pitches under high pressure. Chipboard has the good durability, resistance to a curvature and high density. It is available in various sizes and thickness that does it by universal material for production of furniture and building constructions.
The fibreboard (fiber board) is made from the wood fibers received by wood destruction. She has higher density and durability in comparison with chipboard. The fibreboard well is suitable for use as a basis for the coverings, finishing materials and furniture products demanding high extent of processing and finishing.
MDF (multilayered fiber board) is the high-quality material produced from the wood fibers mixed with pitches and processed with a high pressure and temperature. MDF has very smooth surface, and it is ideal for coloring, varnishing or a covering a film. It is used for creation of furniture, doors, plinths and other finishing elements.
OSB (oriyentirovanno-struzhechny plate) turns out from the wood shavings leveled in a certain direction and connected by pitches. OSB has the high durability, moisture resistance and structural stability. She is widely used in construction for a covering of walls, floors, a roof and other designs.
WSP (wood-shaving plate) is popular material which is widely used in various areas, including furniture production, construction and finishing of rooms. Here more detailed information on application and versions chipboards.
Use of chipboard:
For production of furniture. It is used for creation of case elements, table-tops, shelves, doors and facades.
For creation of partitions, shelves, cases, racks and other elements of internal finishing of rooms.
For production of exhibition stands, plates, decorative panels and other elements of the advertizing structures.
Types of chipboard:
Usual chipboard: It is the most widespread type of chipboard. It consists of the shaving connected by pitch and compressed under high pressure.
Laminated by chipboard: This is chipboard on which the laminated film providing additional protection against attrition and moisture and also creating a variety of decorative finishings is applied.
Melamine chipboard: It has the covering from melamine pitch providing durability, resistance to scratches and easy cleaning.
Shponirovannoye of chipboard: In this type of chipboard the surface is covered with a natural wooden interline interval that creates esthetically attractive appearance.
The choice between different types of chipboard depends on concrete requirements and preferences and also on the specific project or use of material. When choosing it is necessary to consider the budget, functionality, durability and esthetic aspects.
The fibreboard (fiber board) is a material which is also widely used in various areas, especially in furniture production and construction. Here more detailed information on application and versions fibreboards:
Application of a fibreboard:
Furniture production: The fibreboard is used for production of back walls of furniture, the lower bases of boxes, table-tops and other elements which aren't visible or don't demand high decorative effect.
Construction and finishing: The fibreboard can be used for creation of partitions, internal finishing panels, windowsills, shelves and other elements which aren't visible or don't demand high esthetic appeal.
Packing and transportation: The fibreboard is used for production of packing-cases, pallets and other packaging materials thanks to the durability and resistance to vibrations.
Types of a fibreboard:
Standard fibreboard: It is the most widespread type of a fibreboard which has the average density and durability. It is used for the common construction and furniture goals.
Easy fibreboard: It is easier version of a fibreboard with a low density. It is usually applied where the reduced weight, for example, in the automotive and aviation industry is required.
Moisture resistant fibreboard: This type of a fibreboard has the increased resistance to influence of moisture and moisture changes. It is used in rooms with the increased humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens.
Fire-resistant fibreboard: It is a special type of a fibreboard which has the increased fire resistance. It is used where the high level of protection against fire, for example, in construction and the industry is required.
The choice between different types of a fibreboard depends on concrete the requirement
